The Summary: Happy Friday! I hope everyone had an enjoyable week. Discussion was light this week, and I want to thank Hope-g for participating. We talked about the connection between humans and animals portrayed in The Jungle, and how the characters are treated like animals, in which their voice is not heard, and how they are used and then thrown out by the Packingtown system—much like how animals are used and then slaughtered. We also discussed the human rights issues within the factory farming industry. Without some solution to the horrible abuses on the human level, the animals will never be truly helped. It's important to look at the problem as a whole in order to make change.We will discuss chapters 17 to 25 next week. Have a great weekend!
